CLUB TO CLUB ACTIVITIES

Club participates in  the Rotary Friendship Exchange programme. Rotarians and spouses  visit  Rotarian families in other parts of the world. It is  conducted mainly on a club-to-club  bases, but also    on  the district-to-district basis too.
At least once or  twice  a year   members of a club visits other clubs to initiate cooperation  in the framework of the Global Grant Project.

Apart from that Rotary Ridzene club has  closer ties woth Rotary Pernava (Estonia) club and  Kalmar and Kisa clubs (Sweden) , Laitila  Rotary club (Finland)

RECENT MEETINGS

Tørring-Uldum Rotary Club ( Denmark) members in Riga

Members form Tørring-Uldum Rotary Club ( Denmark)  spent several sunny days in Latvia, visited Riga, Jūrmala, Rundāle   and an evening together with some of Riga Ridzene rotary club members. Apart from exchanging banners , both sides spent several hours together,  discussing   issues about development of Rotarian movement, international politics and economy. Next day our guests spent  a time at Jūrmala ( sea shore resort) and  at the   Rundāle Palace  (the 16th century building)  – treasury of rococo and baroque in Latvia.  Ina – and Larisa – members  of  our  club  – joined Danish friends during their trip to Jūrmala and Rundāle.

SOUTH AFRICAN ROTARIANS IN RIGA

February 2019 members of our Riga Ridzene club as  participants of  Friendship Exchange program  visited South Africa. In August Rotary friends form South African  Rotary clubs came to Latvia. Our guests spent several days in Riga and got acquainted with the most interesting sightseeing places. We spent also an evening together  members   – from our club and South African Rotarians. Here we all are at Ridzene hotel.

Riga Ridzeme Rotary members visited colleagues in Chile

Members of  Riga Ridzene  Rotary Club and Ogre Rotary club visited  Pudahuel  Rotary club (Santiago- Chile)  November  25 to December  8, 2016. The visit was organized in the framework of  “Club to club” exchange following the invitation of  Rotarians from Chile.
Latvia Rotarians visited several cities – Santiago, Talca,  Valparaiso, Los Andes, Pomaire  and  participated in four Rotary club meetings. The group was introduced to Pudahuel Children’s Burn center, established  and maintained by rotarians, Talca University students,  Parliament Building,  Valparaiso,  glassworks (Padre Hurtado)  and a number of vineyards.
Guests from Latvia  stayed with   families from   Santiago.
The visit  was really great. It was  blessed to get to know Rotarians living the other side of the world and to realize how alike we are. It was great to meet open minded,  friendly people  and to get once more the  evidence that rotarians are welcomed everywhere.
Riga Ridzene Rotary club is thankful to  Latvia Honorary Consul in Chile  Ilze Kozjukeviča who was very helpful organizing the exchange visit.

With great pleasure Latvia Rotarians  will meet the  guests  from Chile in 2017.

 ROTARIANS FROM MEXICO IN LATVIA

 August 11-26, 2016  a group of Mexican Rotarians  (Rotary district 4110) visited our club. It was a  return visit after the members of Riga Ridzene club visited Mexico earlier in the framework of Rotary Friendship Exchange Program

Mexico Rotarians represented Kampestre Ciudad Juárez (Juarez Campestre) Rotary club. Latvia Rotarians from Riga, Kuldīga, Jelgava, Gulbene and Ventspils clubs were actively involved in the hospitality and  accommodation programs.
Guests got acquainted with our capital Riga and Jurmala,  visited Sigulda, Preiļi and Aglona, Jelgava, Bauska, Rundāle, Kuldīga and Ventspils, so having the possibility to  get to know our beautiful country and  its people. Latvia Mexican guests really liked  it! And on the way home they still had a chance to visit for  a few days  Stockholm and meet the Rotary friends there.

Two members from Rotary Club of Mumbai visited Latvia

Two members from Rotary Club of Mumbai  – Janet and Louis –  travel from Mumbai to London  by a car.. They plan to  cover 50 000 km.  Left Mumbai May 20, but July 25 arrived in Riga, Latvia and stayed with the Riga Ridzene Rotary club member Marika Ģederte. The exchange of banners took place as well as impressions about the travel.

July 6 club members met the President  of the  Karmiel Rotary club (Israel)  Gita Shlick Vider. Mrs.Vider and members of Riga Ridzene Rotary club discussed  cooperation models and possibility to realize common club projects in future.

Riga Ridzene Rotarians in Finland

Following  the invitation from  Laitila Rotary club ( Finland)  three rotarians  Maija, Ina and Ludmila  from Riga Ridzene Rotary club took part in the chain exchange ceremony as honorary guests

“Finland was nice, we were really warmly welcomed. The ceremony was very solemn and exciting”, said Maija.

.Latvian Rotarians in Mexico

Ten rotarians from different  Latvia Rotary clubs (Rotary District 2410) visited Mexico in the framework of Rotary Friendship Exchange  program in March 2016. They represented different clubs  – Riga Ridzene Rotary club  and clubs from Riga, Jelgava, Salaspils, Gulbene.

The aim of the exchange visit  was  to  promote international inter-club relations and shared charity projects, as well as  to  learn about other cultures while staying with local  Rotarian families at their  homes , visiting their clubs and getting acquainted with participation of  Mexican  Rotarians    in local  community  activities.
Mexican Rotary District 4110 is the largest Rotary area in Mexico, consisting of five states – Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes.  The  group planned to visit Guadalajara, which is another area, and the famous beaches of Mexico. A while  later the group from Mexico will arrive in Latvia – in  a return visit.  Latvia Rotarians will be happy to accommodate the quests from Mexico  and  continue to develop the plans for the future cooperation.

Apart from it, Riga Ridzene club has just received the offer from  India to hold another Rotary friendship exchange  program event  next year!

Visiting Tenerife Sur Rotary Club

February 22, 2016 President of the club  Jānis Freibergs  visited  RC Tenerife Sur. Both clubs exchanged banners and the plans of the future cooperation. The president of the  Tenerife Sur club   plans  to visit  Rotary Ridzene club in June.
