Members of Riga Ridzene Rotary club participated in the Friendship exchange program in the South Africa which took place from February 2 -14, 2019. Altogether the District 2410 was represented by five clubs. From Sweden – Louis de Geer Rotary Club Norrkoping, Kalmar Rotary club, Rotary Club Malme, but from Latvia – Riga Rotary Club and Riga Ridzene Rotary Club. Rotarians visited Jonanesburg, Pretoria, Soveto, Waitriver, Warmbath and the Kruger National Park.
In Johannesburg, we visited the Museum of Apartheid, the Nelson Mandela House-Museum, the history of civilization museums, memorial museum of white immigrants, open-air museum of ancient tribes (zulu) and other places of interest. There were meetings also with members of Rotary clubs, such as Centurion CoR (Pretoria), Waitriver and Warmbath Rotary Clubs.
Three days in Kruger National Park (365 km x 70 km) were unforgettable! Our travelers saw a lot – zebras, elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, impalas, kudu, buffalo, monkeys, turtles, various birds, ostriches, hippos and the leopard.
In August Riga Ridzene Rotary club will meet Rotary friends from the South Africa as guests in Latvia.
